There are four games remaining and the Pittsburgh Steelers are showing no signs of losing anytime soon, the Ravens must win out to claim the A.F.C. North Title. If they win out, I also believed they would have the tie breaker against the Patriots for the number one seed in the AFC.
With four games remaining, the Ravens face the 0-12 Colts here at home Sunday, travel to San Diego next Monday Night, the Browns here on Christmas Eve, and then the season ends against the Bengals in Cincinnati on New Year’s Day.
These four games scare me. The Ravens have a habit of losing to winless teams. In 2004 the 0-3 Kansas City Chiefs came into M&T Bank Stadium and beat the Ravens on Monday Night Football. The 0-13 Dolphins beat the Ravens in Miami in December of 2007 and probably cost Brian Billick his job.
The Ravens are 2-10 lifetime against the Colts. They are riding an eight game losing streak that includes six regular season games and two playoff games. The last times the Ravens beat Indianapolis was in 2001; the last year Indy didn’t qualify for the playoffs. The Ravens in fact haven’t scored a touchdown against the Colts since losing 44-20 on a miserably rainy Sunday Night in 2007 here in Baltimore.
Besides the Colts, we have to fly to the West Coast next Monday Night to play a San Diego Chargers team fighting for their playoff lives. Then we play division rival Cleveland Browns who would love to play the spoiler role. Finally on New Year’s Day we play in Cincinnati, who will also be playing for a playoff spot.
We don’t have an easy road ahead. We can hope the 49ers do us a favor and knock off the Steelers next Monday Night. But we must take care of our own business. We can’t rely on the Steelers to lay any steamers on the field like we did in Jacksonville and Seattle.
On Sunday, first things first, just win baby. But if we have the opportunity to run up the score; DO IT!!!!!!!
