Michael Phelps will attempt to win seven gold medals at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Unlike 2008, where he attempted to go for eight medals, Phelps will only attempt to win seven this year. And it is a brilliant move.
Michael Phelps already is the greatest swimmer of all time. His accomplishments will not be duplicated for a long time. Phelps decision today ensures that he will not have the added pressure of duplicating what he did in Beijing, China. Phelps is going to still try and win seven gold medals but he does not have to compete in the one event he almost did not win during the qualifying round, The 200 Meter Free Style.
Phelps’ seven events now are: the 100 and 200-meter butterfly, 200 and 400-meter individual medley, 400-meter freestyle relay, 800-meter freestyle relay and 400-meter medley relay. He has the opportunity to make history and won more gold medals then any other Olympic athlete.
The beach was warm today so this entry is short.
