Marty’s NFL Predictions: Don’t Bet the House On Them!

September 10, 2009 | Marty Mossa

Now before I get started, I want to warn you that I’m not very good at this.  After the 6-10 2005 Ravens season, I predicted that the purple and black would go 6-10 in 2006.  They went 13-3.  In 2007 I looked at the schedule and predicted that the Ravens would go 10-6 and make the playoffs.  They went a dismal 5-11.  So with a rookie coach, rookie quarterback and an aging defense, I predicted the purple birds would have no more than 5 wins in 09.  Well I was wrong again, they went 11-5 and was 4:00 minutes short of possibly going to the Super Bowl.

Well here goes my predictions:  The Ravens should  finish at least at 10-6 and qualify as a wild card team.  Unfortunately my common sense tells me that the Steelers will win the division.  They unfortunately are still the best team in the AFC North.  Here are my other playoff team picks:

AFC East:  New England Division winner/ Miami wild card

AFC South: Colts Division Winner (Don’t care how sexy a pick Houston is, I would never bet against Peyton)

AFC West: San Diego Division Winner by default.  I’m not sold on them, but look at the division (Pop-Warner like)

NFC East: Eagles Division Winners/Giants Wild card

NFC North: Packers Division Winners/Vikings-Favre will fall apart(hopefully the Ravens can give him his gold watch)

NFC South: Panthers Divsion Winners (Jake has something prove after embarrassing playoff  lose)/Falcons Wild card

NFC West: Cardinals Division Winners by default (another Pop Warner division)

In the end in the AFC the road to the Superbowl will either go through New England or Pittsburgh.  In the NFC the Eagles will host the Giants.  I’m picking the Eagles to advance to the show and lose once again to the New England Patriots.  WARNING:  DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT BET YOUR CHILD’S COLLEGE FUND BASED ON MY PREDICTIONS!  Otherwise junior will be destined to work at McDonald’s his whole life.
