The Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs captured their first NCAA Division I hockey championship last night against the Michigan Wolverines in St. Paul, MN. Minnesota beat Notre Dame Thursday Night in the quarter finals, as Michigan beat North Dakota.
Michigan took a first period 1-0 lead. Minnesota scored two second period goals to take the lead. Michigan finished the scoring in the second period and it was tied 2-2 going into the third period. The third period was a stale mate and the game went into sudden death overtime.
Kyle Schmidt scored the game winner at 3:22 of overtime to give the Bulldogs their first title.
