Monday night flight of ideas…

April 08, 2008 |

  • Our Baltimore Orioles have won five straight. Let’s enjoy these good times being in first place in the AL East. By Memorial Day it could be a different story.
  • I laughed out loud when recently hearing the song “Aubrey” by Bread. The last two lines of the song — “And I’d go a million times around the world
Just to say she had been mine for a day.”
  • If you can find a way, get down to the fabulous First Mariner Arena to support your Baltimore Blast this Thursday night when they play the New Jersey Ironmen, featuring World Cup goaltender Tony Meola. Playoff games in all sports always have a special electricity about them – why not be a part of it?
  • There are actually people in Detroit who miss the old Tiger Stadium. I didn’t know that the third deck hung over the warning track, so if a fly ball was hit high enough, instead of being a fly out, it was a home run.
  • The Ocean City 9 alarm fire last Sunday had lots of “local celebrities” fighting the fire, including former OC mayor Roland “Fish” Powell, Calvert Hall graduate, former OC Mayor, and current state senator Jim Mathias, and two members of the Trimper family.
