6:00: Morning Baltimore sports fans! We’ve got some great guests coming on today’s show, and we’re going to talk about the first win in the future Hall of Fame coaching career of new Oriole manager Juan Samuel.
I love starting the week out with a little sarcasm.
We do have some really great guests on the show though, that much is true. Keep an ear out on WNST for Mike Smith, winning jockey at Saturday’s Belmont Stakes, former Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers GM John Hart, and with the big news of UCLA basketball coach John Wooden passing away over the weekend, former Maryland basketball coach Lefty Driesell will join Glenn and Drew to help us remember the legendary coach. Stay tuned.
7:24: Rick Dempsey beats out fellow MASN employee Jen Royle as well as Chris Stoner for “Apologist of the Morning”. What took home the trophy? Dempsey’s teaser before the post-game show really put him ahead of everyone else for the award. Jim Hunter asked his opinion (bad idea) in the teaser for the O’s post-game show after Will Ohman blew a save in last night’s game. Dempsey’s analysis:
“Yeah, it was a blown save, but you’ve got to give the O’s credit.”
Maybe the Orioles management should have given Dempsey the manager’s job, because the Orioles players should really be hearing this in the clubhouse, not on TV.
7:48: Former Rangers and Indians GM John Hart weighed in on a couple of the guys atop the Major League Baseball Draft. He really likes SS Manny Machado and Jameson Taillon, who depending upon the Pirates take, could land in the Black and Orange in a few years.
8:10: Bob Harwood from Versus came on the show to talk about the NHL Finals, and Drew’s hatred for the Philadelphia Flyers.
