More nuggets from Owings Mills…4:15 update

January 15, 2008 | Drew Forrester

Brill Garrett and the Ravens entourage have arrived back at the facility.

The Ravens must be reading these blogs or other media info in town, as they had her park AWAY from the Dick Cass parking spot in front of the media center.  Still, we’re not dummies.  We saw them drive in at the front gate and they parked over on the other side by the player’s parking lot.  OK, maybe some of us ARE dummies for being out here all day and reporting nothing, basically, but what else were we all going to do today?

OK, so here’s some breaking news.

> Peter Schmuck of The Sun has arrived.  We talked about my Orioles grievance for a few minutes.  I’d like to write what Peter said about the whole thing…but if I did, he might lose his press credential.

> Mark Viviano and I chatted about his recent trip to Aruba.  He looks refreshed, tanned and ready to go.  He, like the rest of us, wonders what he’s doing here.

> Mike Preston of The Sun has been in the house since about 1:00 pm.  We had a long discussion.  Mike and I worked together back in the late 1980’s when I was the Media Relations Director for the Blast and he was the team’s beat writer for The Sun.  We had a couple of old “Kenny Cooper” laughs.

> Chad Steele of the Ravens walks in every 20 minutes or so and everyone stops what they’re doing.  Chad then grabs a soda out of the refrigerator or uses the bathroom.  We don’t watch him do that.  Then, he leaves.  And everyone goes back to doing nothing.

> David Steele of The Sun is here.  We just discovered that we’re sharing the same flight to Phoenix for the Super Bowl.  And, he’s staying at the same hotel as we are during the week.  I hope he brings The Sun credit card along.  I’d like to order a bottle of Silver Oak Cabernet and charge it to 501 N. Calvert St.  I bought Bill Glauber, Sandra McKee, Melody Simmons and Mike Preston enough drinks and meals when I was with the Blast.  They owe me one.

> I miss baby Ethan.  I should have been home by now goofing around with him.  We’re going to the UMBC basketball game tomorrow night (vs. Hartford).  It will be Ethan’s first trip to RAC Arena…he’s a regular at the Towson Center.

> Casey is not around right now.  I think he’s on a secret snooping mission, somewhere in the building.  He takes this stuff VERY seriously.

During the time it took me to write this, nothing new happened.

I swear, I couldn’t make any of this stuff up.
