The Salisbury Men’s Lacrosse team has picked up right where they left off last season. The Sea Gulls opened their 2009 season with a 24-6 rout of the University of Scranton. You may be thinking what is so unusual about another Salisbury rout. Here is what stands out about their 78th straight win and 75th straight win at home. Returning Division III player of the year Kylor Berkman had a career high 9 points on 4 goals and 5 assists. Believe it on not Scranton scored the first 3 goals of the game. This was the first time Salisbury trailed 3-0 since May 2007. At the 9:22 mark of the first quarter the Gulls woke up. They scored the next 16 goals of the game. At the 5:22 mark of the third quarter Scranton got their 4th goal. Salisbury out shot Scranton 61-30 and won the ground balls 57-31. The only bad things I see from this game is Salisbury took 10 penalties which is too many. Their extra man is working though as Scranton went 1 for 10 on extra man. They also had 29 turnovers. Salisbury travels to Lynchburg next Saturday.
