NFL Lockout Is Over!!!!

July 25, 2011 | Derek Halford

Well after a long 132 days the lockout is over!!! The NFLPA finished it up today in D.C. and free agent signings will start tomorrow. Now that the lockout is over there will be a lot of movement and activity going on throughout the NFL in the next few days.
What big names do you think will be traded? Where do you think free agents such as Nnamdi Asomugha will land? Some teams like the Cowboys, Raiders, Giants, and Steelers are going to have to reconstruct contracts or cut some players since they will be over the new salary cap. On the other hand, some teams like the Bengals and the Buccaneers have a lot of cap room and they will need to spend some money because teams can not be too far under the cap.
On Tuesday, teams can start signing their own draft picks and undrafted free agents. They can also begin talking to their own free agents and other teams’ free agents. Team facilities will open on this day as well for voluntary workouts. Players can begin reporting to training camps 15 days before their first preseason games. According to the proposed timeline, 10 teams would report on Wednesday, 10 more on Thursday and 10 additional teams on Friday. The New York Jets and Houston Texans would be the last two teams to report, on Sunday. On Thursday, teams can begin waiving and cutting players. On Friday, teams can begin signing other teams’ free agents and their own.
After this week we should have a better ideas of what teams are going to look like this season and will be able to make more accurate predictions. What moves are you most excited about seeing?
