After today’s win over the Royals, the Orioles dealt LHP George Sherrill to the Los Angeles Dodgers for third baseman Josh Bell and righthanded pitcher Steven Johnson, son of local broadcaster and former Oriole pitcher Dave Johnson.

Johnson was at Class A Inland Empire and was 8-4 with a 3.82 ERA before he was 1-1 with a 1.69 ERA after being promoted to Class AA Chattanooga.

Bell — one of the prized prospects in the Los Angeles farm system — was in Chattanooga and batting .296 with 11 HR, 30 doubles and 52 RBIs in 334 ABs.

Meanwhile, there’s also a conflicting web report that says it’s not Steve Johnson in the deal, but LHP Scott Elbert.
