O’s 8 Evil Empire 2

April 19, 2008 |

Last night was a classic pitching duel between the Yankees Phil Hughes and the O’s Daniel Cabrera, atleast until the 6th inning. The O’s chased Hughes in the 6th with 7 hits and 7 runs.

The O’s Daniel Cabrera pitched a strong 6 innings to earn his 1st win of the season. The most important part of his line last night was that he only walked 2 Yankees.

Nick Markakis led the O’s last night going 3 for 3 with 1 run and 1 RBI and a double. Luke Scott continued his torrid hitting going 2 for 4 with 1 RBI and he hit his league leading 9th double of the year. Both Melvin Mora and Jay Payton chipped in with 2 RBI’s apiece.

The bullpen combination of Bierd, Walker and Albers were excellent last night pitching 3 strong innings and giving up only 2 hits.

The win puts the O’s at 10-6 and in 2nd place 1/2 game behind the Boston Dead Soxs. O’s go at it again tonight against the Yankees at 7:05 at the Yard.
