O’s Lose 3rd In A Row; Bullpen Implodes!!

April 12, 2008 |

Jeremy Guthrie was denied his 1st win of the season by the lack of support from the bullpen. Guthrie pitched 6.1 innings giving up 8 hits and 2 ER’s. But the bullpen pitched 1.2 innings giving up 7 hits, 8 ER’s and 5 walks.

Result was a 10-5 lost to the Rays!! At one point I thought I heard Bob Uecker doing the broadcast tonight. Dennis “Wild Thing” Sarfate threw one pitch just a little outside to Jonny Gomes and later threw one behind him. The combination of Walker, Sarfate and Aquino had no answers for the Rays batters tonight!!

Carlos Pena had a monster game for the Rays. 2 for 3, 2 HR’s,6 RBI’s and 2 walks. Pena hit a monster 3 run home run off of Jamie Walker in the 7th inning.

The only bright spot for the O’s tonight besides Guthrie was Luke Scott who went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s. The O’s had only 8 hits tonight; of which 5 were doubles.

It was nice to see Chris Ray in the dugout tonight. From the interview between Amber Theoharris and Chris Ray it seems that Chris is coming right along fine so far in his rehab.
