O’s should sign Silva

October 30, 2007 | Drew Forrester

I’m in the middle of The Comcast Morning Show (Capt. Kirk is talking traffic on 795 right now), so let me make this quick.

Right-handed starting pitcher Carlos Silva filed for free agency yesterday.

The Orioles should sign him today.

Silva is an innings-eater with a career ERA below the league average.

You might remember him as the guy who gave up 5 home runs in Baltimore back in August, 2006.

Don’t let that take away from the fact that he can chew up innings and doesn’t walk many guys, both of which are important, right?

Check out his stats at www.baseballreference.com – I gotta run and take care of the show.

Carlos Silva — thought for the day — "he’s better than Daniel Cabrera".
