O’s today: Florida facilities are subpar and the players aren’t happy

April 02, 2009 | Drew Forrester

Thank God someone else wrote the story about the O’s and the issues with their facilities in Ft. Lauderdale and Sarasota.

Had anyone at WNST authored this account (from today’s edition of The Sun), we’d have 25 more blog comments from folks saying, “please stop beating up the team…it’s getting old.”

This time, The Sun beats up the team.

This time, The Sun embarrasses the team.

This time, The Sun exposes the team for making their employees work in sub-standard and unsafe conditions.  And The Sun makes note of the fact that players and coaches were warned by the team NOT to speak out about the situations in Ft. Lauderdale and Sarasota.  The players didn’t listen.

The team’s Communications Director says, “no, no, the fields are suitable for play.”  Melvin Mora, who knows a little more about baseball fields than a PR voice, says the fields are the worst he’s ever played on.

Read all about it in The Sun.

And, then, make your own assessment of who’s telling the truth and who isn’t.
