O’s Win With 3 In The Ninth

April 06, 2008 |

Luis Hernandez picked the right time to get his 1st hit of the season; a game winning single in the ninth with two outs.

Another small crowd of 19,215 watched the young O’s hang around until King Felix left the game after 8 strong innings. After his departure the O’s took advantage of the Mariners having JJ Putz on the DL by scoring 3 runs in the 9th inning.

Luke Scott has become a new fan favorite, with chants of “Luke, Luke, Luke” everytime he comes to the plate. Scott had another 3 hit game and is now batting .538 for the season.

Guthrie had a good game pitching 7 innings and looked to be getting the lost until for some reason the Mariners pulled Felix Hernandez after the 8th inning. Dennis Sarfate received his 1st win of the season and only his 2nd of his career.

1st Place and three wins in a row now for the O’s!! I know it is early in the season, but this young team is alot of fun to watch. The fans that have been showing up to the stadium have been loud and staying to the end of the games. Not like last year when most of the fans were leaving in the 6th inning.

On another note, I got to talk to Erik Bedard today while he was signing some autograph’s for some fans outside the Mariners dugout. He was a totally different person then I had seen with the O’s the past couple of years. Laughing and carrying on with the fans he told me that the trade was good for both teams and he was happy where he was now. Even Sam had a smile on his face as he signed a few for the fans and talked to friends who had come down from Cumberland to see him.
