Pimlico: Selections for Saturday (Day 7)

April 26, 2008 | Gary Quill

Only 7 days until the Kentucky Derby.
Recapping Day 6 (April 25th)…

Best Bet, Prowling Tiger (# 1; 3rd race; 4-5) WON in gate-to-wire fashion at a poultry, but not unexpected 1-5, paying $2.60. That’s FIVE consecutive Best Bet winners!

Longshot, Coal Valley (# 5; 4th race; 10-1) ran exactly the way I thought she would. She let the majority of the field set a hot pace, made her move in 6 wide entering the stretch and lost to the winner by 2 lengths. Unfortunately, two other horses finished ahead of her. A 4th place finish gets you nothing, but at 24-1, it reiterates you are on the right track.

SHOW Parlay Play of the Day, $20 on Nicole’s Knight (# 1; 1st race; 5-1). Our third shot at this play made it through its first day. The betting public made him the 6-5 favorite; he ran second and paid $2.80 to SHOW. We’ll gladly take the $8 profit in the SHOW spot on a 6-5 favorite.
Here’s what I like for the Day 7 (Apr. 26th) of the Pimlico Spring Meet…
Best Bet:         Yankee Master          (# 3; 9th race; 6-1)

Trainer Linda Rice ships in from New York to score in the Henry Clark Stakes turf contest.

Longshot:        Ziggly (# 4; 3rd race; 8-1)
Has show he can compete at this level. These odds would be generous in my mind. He’s a solid value here.

SHOW Parlay available bankroll: $68.20

SHOW Parlay Play of the Day: $28 on Bodjit’s Jewel (# 5; 2nd race; 2-1)

She’s solid a this level and should be able to be in the money today.

Good Luck with your selections today!
