Ravens nearing deal with ‘Har-Ball’?

January 18, 2008 | Drew Forrester

I get better information when I’m home…as opposed to when I’m stationed at the facility starting at the walls with Casey and the gang.

It’s looking like the Ravens have their man.

I’m not sure they’ll actually have a bonafide press conference tonight – Friday at 6:00 pm or 7:00 pm is the most unlikely of times to do so – but it wouldn’t surprise me at all if we hear within the next hour that the club has agreed to terms with John Harbaugh to be the team’s next Head Coach.

Hang in there while I sort through some information I just received.  Casey’s on the ball – and on the scene at Owings Mills – as well and we’ll get something to you as soon as it’s confirmed.

It’s apparently time for “Har-Ball” in Baltimore.

UPDATE AT 5:25 –  The Ravens have made contact with Harbaugh’s agent late this afternoon.  A source in Philadelphia tells me:  “The Ravens made it clear early this morning that they’re ready to give the job to John.  Now comes the hard part.  Terms, years, guaranteed money, control over coaching staff, etc.  But John wants to be a Head Coach.  And the Ravens evidently want him.”

UPDATE AT 5:30 –  I’m heading back to the facility.  No updates for a while.  Casey will blog anything that happens in the next 30 minutes.  DF
