Ravens vs. Titans Preview

September 15, 2011 | Michael Schwartz

The Ravens are coming off of a total domination of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Ravens dominated them on offense, defense, and special teams. The Ravens ran for over 150 yards and threw for more than 225 yards. Joe Flacco threw 3 touchdowns. He threw to Ed Dickson, Anquan Boldin, and Ray Rice.
The Titans are coming off of a loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Titans have a new quarterback and he didn’t have much time to work with the offense. Matt Hasselbeck clicked late in the game with Kenny Britt. Britt ended up having over 150 yards and 2 touchdowns. Chris Johnson held out waiting for a new contract, but didn’t show that he deserved one last week. The Ravens will to stop him for running all over them like he did in the playoffs a few years ago.

The Ravens defense forced 7 turnovers against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Three interceptions and four recovered fumbles. They held the Steelers to 7 points. The defense had 4 sacks, 3 of which were by Terrell Suggs. They were more physical than the Steelers, better coached, and played harder.

In this game the Ravens will have to stop Kenny Britt. He is a good deep ball threat but also goes over the middle. He is physical and gets a lot of yards after the catch. If the Ravens don’t get pressure on Hasselbeck then they will surely be hurt by Britt.

They have to be ready for Chris Johnson to bounce back after an awful week 1. He didn’t get many reps during training camp because he wasn’t there. However, he is a fast back who likes to get to the outside and make plays. The Ravens didn’t allow Rashard Mendenhall to run much but he is a power back. Johnson is the complete opposite. He’s fast and doesn’t run in between the tackles as much.

The Titans defense is not that good. Over the last couple of years they have lost Keith Bulloch, Albert Haynesworth, and other players on the defensive side. They still have Cortland Finnegan one of the dirtiest players in the game. In a past games, he and the Ravens receivers argue after the play and results in 15 yard penalties. Finnegan is a good shutdown cornerback. The Ravens have a lot of weapons and he can’t guard all of them.

My Prediction- 38-13 Ravens
