Ring that Bell, kid

Josh Bell is the 22 YO 3rd basemen the Orioles acquired from the Dodgers in the George Sherrill trade on July 31.  Bell has entered the O’s organization with a bang, to say the least.  Despite being hampered for a few days by a hamstring injury Bell has hit 4 home runs with 9 RBI and 7 walks in his first 48 ABs for Bowie.  In a few short weeks Bell now sits atop the O’s list of positional prospects.  He projects as a better defender and a better power hitter than Norfolk 1B Brandon Snyder.

Strangely enough, Bell isn’t even the hottest 3rd base prospect dealt at the deadline.  Brett Wallace, traded to Oakland by the Cardinals in the Matt Holliday trade, has hit 7 HRs in hist first 108 ABs for his new team.
