The Ravens have asked Samari Rolle to take a physical at the team’s facility on Monday, the first step in providing the veteran cornerback with his release.
Rolle was due to make $4.1 million in 2009. His release would leave the Ravens with approximately $6.1 million remaining on their ’09 salary cap of $127 million dollars. The team needs to hold roughly $2.75 million for their ’09 draft picks (assuming they stay at their current spot in the 1st round).
Two weeks ago, Rolle was outspoken about his future in Baltimore and, at that time, alluded to the fact that he would rather be released than be forced to take a pay cut with the Ravens.
Early next week, he’ll get his wish.
