Salisbury and Stevenson Lacrosse Updates

March 23, 2009 |

Not much has changed since I last posted about these two lacrosse teams. Salisbury is 9-0 overall and 3-0 in the Capital Athletic Conference. Stevenson is 8-0 and 2-0 in the CAC. Both picked up non conference wins this weekend. Salisbury beat Eastern Connecticut State 15-7 and Stevenson beat Lynchburg 12-10. These wins combined with a loss by Cortland State mean that Salisbury is #1 in division three and Stevenson moves up to #2 in this week’s poll.  Saturday night April 4th while most of you are watching the Final Four these two teams will meet in Salisbury with plenty on the line. Salisbury has not lost a CAC game since they joined in 1994. They have won 80 straight games at home and 54 in a row overall. Stevenson is biggest challenge to the CAC streak in a long time. Both teams have work to do before this game though. Stevenson has a home game vs Wesley on Saturday and a trip to York on April 1. If they can avoid looking ahead they should win their games. Salisbury has a tougher road though. They travel to York tomorrow, host Gettysburg on Saturday and Mary Washington next Tuesday. Despite the fact that Stevenson beat Gettysburg 16-6 earlier in the season the Bullets are always a thorn in the side of Salisbury. Last years games were both tight. Kylor Berkman scored in overtime to win the NCAA semifinal and during the regular season the Sea Gulls had to mount a comeback to get the win. We will see if these teams can take care of business and give us a huge lacrosse game on April 4.
