Sherrill On…

May 07, 2009 |

OK, I’m watching the Birds and I want to comment on George Sherrill’s outing as it goes.  So….

Starts by getting ahead.  Always a good thing.  0 and 2, aggressive early, the way a closer should be.

0-2 pitch was a little too fat.  Bury a curve.  So far all but one pitch have been fastballs, and Spann is on them.  There it is, dropped a curve in on him.  Take a seat.

Next up, Tolbert…

0 and 1 again, 0 and 2 again.  Good 0 and 2 curve.  Flew out to center.  Sherrill is working ahead and pitching in the zone aggressively.

Here’s Mauer…

Working ahead again.  Count moves to 2 and 1 and Mauer takes a big hack…  Sherrill got away with one.  Count goes full…  He needs to be careful here… 3-2 Curve driven foul…  Where the F%&# was that !!!!!!

Morneau…

1 and 0 and he comes back with a very good fastball low and away.  Got him to 2 and 2 with back to back CBs.  Another one, popped up and ball game.

That George Sherrill is not the one we’ve seen this year.  Working quick, working ahead, aggressive in the zone early in the count.  he looked a lot like a closer tonight…
