I’ve glanced up at the Ravens 2010 schedule. I printed it out and wrote my predictions next to each game, on Wednesday, September 8th. In fact, I filled it out during my show.
To date, I’m PERFECT.
I scribbled W’s next to New York Jets, Cleveland Browns (1), Pittsburgh Steelers (1), Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pittsburgh Steelers (2), Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns (2) and Cincinnati Bengals (2). I scribbled L’s next to Cincinnati Bengals (1), New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons.
So, as we enter the bye week, I’m 7 for 7, and on target for a predicted 12-4 season. I’ll take it – although, I never really envisioned this 5-2 record unraveling in the exact way it’s happened. Just two weeks ago, the Broncos vs. Ravens game was being billed as the #1 passing offense vs. #1 passing defense.
Damn, what a difference a couple weeks can make.
This is not a convenient excuse, because I mentioned it a few times, last week. And, in being totally honest, I really believe it ….. The Buffalo Bills are not nearly as bad as many Baltimoreans believed. I guess you can reasonably suggest that while the Ravens did not underestimate the Bills, everyone else did. The Ryan Fitzpatrick jokes were aplenty. Yet, he’s played every bit as effectively as Joe Flacco, through four games.
Of their half dozen games, the Bills were in four of them until the very end. Yesterday’s game was just the closest of the contests and it struck a personal nerve here in Baltimore. Nothing more, nothing less. The Ravens will lose more games before the season ends. That’s going to happen. But, the Buffalo Bills are going to win some games
