Steelers Sign Jerricho Cotchery

August 11, 2011 | Derek Halford

It has been confirmed that the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed former Jets WR Jerricho Cotchery. Cotchery requested to be released when he heard rumor that the Jets were going to sign WR Derrick Mason

Cotchery had his best season in 2007 when he had 82 receptions for 1130 yards. This was his only 1000+yard season.

After his release, there were a few teams linked to Cotchery – Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, and San Diego Chargers. The Ravens and Steelers, division rivals, were the 2 main teams in the race. It was rumored that Cotchery had the most interest in signing with the Ravens and a lot of people thought that Baltimore should have signed the veteran WR. But, the Ravens felt that they didn’t need him and that they were serious about moving on with their rookie recievers  Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss.

I think the Ravens did the right thing by not signing him. Do you think the Ravens should have signed Cotchery? Do you think this will come back to haunt them at some point during the season?
