All Time Super Bowl Choke Artist

November 25, 2013 | Marty Mossa

It’s obvious that poor OLD Fran Tarkenton has dementia. The formal quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings claims he was the best ever. He was a good QB. But how can the grumpy old man argue over being the greatest quarterback in history?

He said he feels like he can “outplay” any of the quarterbacks that ever played. Really Fran? He also said “Go look at my record. Go look at my record in that era and what I did, the results that I got from passing and rushing. In my mind, I played better than anybody that has ever played the position.” Really Frann, Really? (Sid Saraf FOX Sports, NOV 20, 2013 11:38a ET )

Did you out play Bob Griese in Super Bowl VIII, Terry Bradshaw in IX or Kenny Stabler in Super Bowl XI?

Although Frannie needs to be fit for a strait jacket, he is in the top 10 in completions, attempts, passing yards and touchdowns. Upon his retirement in 1978, he held the NFL record in all four categories. At the start of the 2013, his 342 touchdown passes was still fourth all-time until Tom Brady and Drew Brees passed him on Oct. 27. (Sid Saraf FOX Sports, NOV 20, 2013 11:38a ET )

Now let’s look at NFL Championships: Joe Montana (4), Terry Bradshaw (4), John Unitas (3), Tom Brady (3), John Elway (2). Hey Frannie, how many rings do you have: NONE, ZIP, ZILCH!!! In fact Fran you’re not the best QB ever, you like your clueless coach is the biggest choker ever. So, let’s look at your Super Bowl stats Fannie:
Completions/ Attempts/ Yards TD Int
SB VIII: 18/28 182 0 1
SB IX 11/26 102 0 3
SB XI 17/35 205 1 2
Totals 46/89 489 1 6

Fran Tarkenton Shows Why He’s The “Best” Ever As He Works His Magic Against The Steelers in Super Bowl IX

Now some can argue that Jim Kelly is a Super Bowl choke. Kelly may have been 0-4 in Super Bowls, but at least Kelly’s Bills were in two of the four. The Bills missed winning Super Bowl XXV by two feet/wide right. They had a touchdown lead going into halftime in Super Bowl XXVIII.

The Viking weren’t in any of the three games. They were out scored 72-28. That means Fannie that your offense lead by you averaged only 9.3 points a game. And your defense gave up an average 24 points per game. Do you need the Heimlich Fran?

Well Fran your completion rate was just 52% in three SB’s combined. You averaged only 168 yards per game, and in three games you threw only one TD, yet got picked off 6 times. So Fran, you are the best of all time. The best CHOKER in SB’s of all time that is.

Bottom line no scrambler has ever won a NFL championship. It may happen some day but the guy is going to have to be in his first few years because the life expectancy of a running QB in the league is very poor. Fran was good especially after his return to the Vikes after his foray in NY but he was crap in championship games.
