Terror in Baltimore this Saturday

August 23, 2007 |

This SaturdayUFC Welterweight Champion Matt “The Terror” Serra will be holding a seminar at Ground Control Baltimore from 12 – 3. Matt was the first American awarded a black belt in jiu-jitsu under Renzo Gracie, Ground Control head instructor John Rallo is also a black belt. Matt also was the welterweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter 4 which gave him the title shot at Georges St Pierre.

Matt won the UFC title at UFC 69 by just walking through the former champ Georges St Pierre. Matt was a huge underdog going into that fight, and many thought that Georges would do to Matt what Matt did to him. Matt’s win is considered by many to be one of the biggest shockers in UFC history, and was ranked by Fight magazine as one of the top 10 defining moments in MMA history. Fight magazine features Matt Serra on the cover, and has a great article about him. Matt will serve as one of the coaches on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter, which will air in Sep. Matt, will be coaching against Matt Hughes, who was the UFC Welterweight title holder before losing to GSP.

I will be attending the seminar this Saturday at Ground Control and am really looking forward to learning from him. Ground Control is a great place to train if you are looking for boxing, Muay Thai, jiu-jitsu, grappling, or simply looking to get in to better shape. I have been going to the school for a about a month, and can tell you that it is a great place, great group of guys, and a tremendous workout.

For more information about the school, or to find out more about the Matt Serra seminar this Saturday, call 410-588-2988. John Rallo will join Rob and I as he does every Thursday from 2:30-3 to discuss MMA/UFC and of course Matt Serra and the seminar.
