Hello Baltimoreans!! Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Stephen D Daniels and I’m the next Baltimore Sports Media Superstar! I’ve been in and out of sports radio for about 6 years and one thing I have learned is that people in this business don’t give you a chance to show you who you are. Well Nestor and the WNST family has finally has given me an opportunity to show this city what a young, aspiring sports broadcasting star can do.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself, I am 23 years old, married to a beautiful woman and love the city of Baltimore and its sports, from its historic roots as the birthplace of Babe Ruth to Johnny Unitas and the Colts, to the summer of 1997 where the Orioles went Wire to Wire, to the 2000 Super Bowl champion Ravens and hopefully seeing the Orioles this year capture a playoff birth in nearly 15 years. My father who was very influential on my love for sports is a huge baseball fan; he brought me to my first major league baseball games when I was 11years old in 2001. Those games happened to be Cal Ripken Jr’s Final 4 games of his career, to see the End of a great legacy and era as the Beginning for my love of baseball and sports, it truly showed me even at a young age that sports are a great get-a-away from a thing we call LIFE!!
As the next BSMS my goal is to do exactly that for my audience. I want to provide the humor, entertaining, and factual information on what is going on in today’s sports, locally and nationally. I feel that I would be a major contributor to a show and team like WNST with my work ethic and my passion for my craft. I have enough experience in this field to know the time and dedication that needs to be focused on to make this success.
This has been a dream of mine since I can remember; one of my first gigs in the industry was when I was interning at a Public Access station on the Eastern Shore in High School. My Supervisor said he wanted me to come up with some show ideas and one of the things I came up with was a Day in the life of a Professional Baseball Player, so I contacted the Delmarva Shorebirds and got to do a whole day with a player from waking up with them to traveling to the stadium to batting practice to icing down after the game. That experience at that particular moment was when I knew that I was meant to do this.
My hope is that over the next several weeks my listeners and readers get to develop a bond with me that will last for decades to come. We will dive into the Orioles and there playoff run, the ravens offseason, MMA, NBA and lots of other big stories in the wide world of sports. I hope you join me on a wonderful ride that will be The Next Baltimore Sports Media Superstar!
