Two years ago Navy held on for dear life to beat Notre Dame and end a 43 game losing streak in the series in South Bend. Last season the Mids staged a furious comeback in the 4th quarter that came up just short here in Baltimore. Today they were back in South Bend.

Navy led 21-7 midway though the 4th quarter when Notre Dame scored on a 90 yard drive to cut it to 21-14. Navy punted it back to the Irish who started on their own 13 yard line. Two incompletions later it was third and ten when Jimmy Clausen is sacked setting up 4th and 20 from the Irish 3 yard line.  Clausen is sacked again in the end zone giving the Mids a 23-14 lead. This was a almost a blessing for the Irish though. They recovered the free kick with under two minutes left and drove the field again. The TD pass to Golden Tate made it 23-21 with 24 seconds left. This is where the luck of Irish ran out.

Navy recovered the onside kick and took a knee to seal the win. Navy moves to 7-3 on the season and clinches a birth in the Texas Bowl. That is seven straight bowl games for Navy. Also since Air Force beat Army 35-7 the Mids retain the Commander In Chiefs trophy for the seventhstraight year. They can win it outright with a win over Army on Dec 12.

First though the Mids host Delaware next Saturday at 3:30. In 2007 the Blue Hens won in Annapolis with some guy named Flacco playing quarterback. Hopefully Navy will not let that happen again.
