This just in: Ravens improve to 6-5, Packers up next

November 28, 2009 | Drew Forrester

You have to excuse the folks at NBC if they’re feeling a little sick this morning.

Barf bags for everyone, please.

The highly-anticipated AFC North match-up on Sunday night between the Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers just turned into a borefest with the news from FOX Sports that Ben Roethlisberger will not play in the game due to after-affects from a concussion sustained in last weekend’s loss at Kansas City.

Dennis Dixon will get the start – and the loss – tomorrow night in Baltimore.

Hey, a win is a win is a win.  I couldn’t care less how the Ravens get it at this point.  With Dixon playing, a 24-20 thriller (either way) just turned into a 30-10 Ravens romp.

It doesn’t completely make up for Hauschka’s miss in Minnesota or last Sunday’s offensive fizzle against the Colts…but it sure as hell helps.

No Roethlisberger = no chance for the Steelers.

If you want to buy into that “on any given Sunday” garbage, go right ahead.

“But Drew, Dennis Dixon puts his pants on the same way as every other player…” – Believe that if you want…but you know the truth is this:  Dennis Dixon can’t beat the Ravens tomorrow night.

The Ravens next challenge comes on December 7 at Green Bay.

I’ll confess that it IS a little bit of a bummer to have Big Ben out for Sunday in Baltimore.  I was anxious to see how this Ravens team would have responded against him and the rest of the Black and Gold.  They do — and I say this with gritted teeth — “have our number”.  They just do.

That number won’t get pulled on Sunday though.

It will be a laugher from the outset.

Dennis Dixon vs. Ray Lewis?

Dennis Dixon vs. Haloti Ngata?

Dennis Dixon vs. Ed Reed?

Good freakin’ luck, DD.
