Ladies and Gentleman,
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Justin Keys and I am here to become the next Baltimore Sports Rock star! I am a die-hard fan, but more importantly I understand the direction that most media is headed. It is evident that the future of just about everything will be web-based and, unless you have been in a cave for the past 20 years, I am sure that it has occurred to you. Judging by WNST’s superior website, they are aware of this development as well.
I am of the believe that people, especially the younger generations, don’t want just a sports guy that only knows stats. The people want to understand how it relates to the rest of the world. I think that we are rapidly becoming a people that wants to understand how everything relates. The lines are blurred with just about everything these days. I good example of this the music world. I have spent the last 9 years of my life (on and off) working as a music DJ and I have watched music slowly become homogenized. There is no such thing as only liking rock or rap or whatever anymore, you can’t tell the difference because people are starting to recognize that good music is good music and the genre doesn’t really matter. Now why am I writing this on a sports blog, right?
The reason is that I really believe that people’s attention spans are becoming so short and they are so connected to the world around them via smart-phones, laptops, fiber-optic networks, etc. that they don’t only want to here stats and why I think the ravens should draft this guys or that guy; or why I think Peter Angelos should probably die in a fire for what has become of the Orioles. They want to here how the 11 year Orioles down-turn has affected the local economy or the juxtaposition with the Ravens and how they have revitalized Baltimore’s love affair with the NFL. I am quite sure that if people want to here boring radio, they can tune into Anita Marks or just put a drill into your temple, your choice.
I have a lot more to say about this, but I am going to save it for my monologue tomorrow at 3pm. I can’t wait!
Love, peace, and chicken grease!
