Tough One For Crystal Palace

July 21, 2008 |

Last night Crystal Palace took a step backwards in their quest for one of the 6 berths for the USL2 playoffs. With three teams (Charlotte, Richmond and Cleveland) already clinching berths this loss hurts.

The Pittsburgh RiverHounds beat the Crystal Palace FC last night 2-1 in Pittsburgh. Crystal Palace lone goal came in the 73rd minute of the game when Val Teixeira hit a tremendous shot into the back of the net. The goal had tied the game at 1-1 but 7 minutes later Pittsburgh scored the game winner.

Crystal Palace had several changes to score during the game but time and time again they came up short. Even in the last minute of the game the team had a chance to tie the game to gain atleast a point from the match. Patrick Healey sent a beautiful cross into the box that found Cecil Lewis. Lewis’s header just went over the cross bar as time expired.

Now Crystal Palace has to regroup quickly for their next game on Wednesday in Harrisburg.
