Strange take on Ravens Moves
With the release of Troy Smith by the Ravens and his subsequent unemployment by the NFL, there are many things to discuss. As usual, I have and interesting take on it, so here we go.
What the F*#k was the Monday Night Football crew talking about the other week. When the Ravens played on MNF the other week, the crew could not stop talking about how impressed they were with Troy Smith. Jon Gruden would not shut up about how much he liked Troy Smiths game and how much his teammates really liked Troy. The entire crew talked about how Troy was going to back up Joe and be an integral part of this Ravens team.
Then, they started in on Marc Bulger. Marc didn’t know if he wanted to be a QB in the league anymore and really didn’t impress them. All Marc Bulger has done this preseason is play fantastic on the field, and provide excellent leadership off the field. All Troy Smith did was play really bad football. The last preseason game, he looked like Kyle Boller. And anybody who knows me, knows that I CANNOT be more disrespectful than compare someone to Kyle Boller.
Basically, the MNF crew came into Baltimore, spent a couple of hours with both teams, went on the air, and sounded like they knew what they were talking about. They didn’t, and it was obvious to Ravens fans. To quote Ray Lewis, that’s a “bottom line fact”
Now, onto Troy Smith. For a couple of years now, and specially this off season, this entire town wanted to know why the Ravens couldn’t trade Troy for a high draft pick. I knew why….he isn’t very good and the rest of the league agrees with me. As of right now, he is out of football. Within a week or so, someone will get hurt and Troy will get a call, maybe. It just seems to me that if Troy Smith were good enough to be a starter in the NFL, that he might be on a freakin roster.
I am so ready to be done with all this Troy Smith talk. I wish him the best, but someplace else.
