SOME QUICK THOUGHTS:
-I do not expect to see George Sherrill pitch at Yankee Stadium tonight, but his story is still great nonetheless. It is remarkable to see someone like George in the All-Star Game; and I would like to see him get some work to remember pitching in a special game like this. But I’m not counting on it.
-Towson football fans-heed Mike Hermann’s advice and get your tickets to the Navy game. As Towson athletics clearly has invested in becoming a STELLAR program, games like this are great for College Football in the state of Maryland; and it would be nice to see Towson football fans travel to Annapolis and College Park in the future.
-Welcome Caleb Porzel; so long Tyler Bass. We hope Caleb is as good as his 4-star rating would make us want him to be. We hope Tyler Bass understands that unless you’re a VERY special talent, everyone has to wait their turn.
-Here’s the skinny on Cal and Raymond Berry today. Cal played 21 seasons in Baltimore-hitting .276 with 3,189 hits and 431 Home Runs. He was a 19 time All-Star, 2 Time MVP, won the 1982 Rookie of the Year award, two Gold gloves, two All-Star Game MVP’s, and a World Series title. He played in a major league record 2.632 consecutive games; and is widely credited with “revolutionizing” the SS position. Raymond played 13 seasons in Baltimore-making 631 catches for 9,275 yards and 68 TD’s. He was a 6 time Pro Bowler and a 6 Time All-Pro. He won two NFL Championships and is widely credited with “revolutionizing” the Wide Receiver position. Cal will clearly get my vote, but what Raymond accomplished should be understood by everyone.
Talk to you tomorrow.
