BALTIMORE, MD – The Baltimore Brigade announced Thursday the signings of defensive lineman Andre Monroe and wide receiver Daniel Adams, each former University of Maryland Terrapins.

Monroe, who last played for the Terps in 2014, holds the school record for career sacks (25) and led the team in the category all three seasons he played. The Upper Marlboro, Md. native ranks third in school history with 38.5 career tackles for loss. Monroe recorded a career-high three sacks against Virginia Tech during his junior season, the same year he received The James M. Tatum Memorial Award for Lineman of the Year.

Adams began his career at the University of New Mexico before transferring to Maryland in 2012. Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Adams made his first appearance with the Terps as a redshirt sophomore in 2013 against Clemson. As a redshirt junior in 2014, Adams appeared in two games, catching two passes for 29 yards and a touchdown.

The 2018 Brigade regular season, presented by MedStar Health, kicks off in Baltimore, Md., on Fri., April 13, when the Brigade host the Washington Valor at 7 p.m. at Royal Farms Arena. Following their season opener, the Brigade travel to Philadelphia on Sat., April 21 for a Week 2 matchup with the defending-champion Soul, a rematch of last season’s semifinal matchup.

The Baltimore Brigade announced Thursday the signing of All-Arena defensive back Virgil Gray, whose six-year Arena Football League playing career includes over 300 solo tackles, 47 interceptions and seven defensive touchdowns. Gray spent last season on the Brigade coaching staff, coordinating defensive backs and special teams.

“I am extremely excited to have Virgil leading our defense this year,” Brigade Head Coach Omarr Smith said. “He has been considered one of the best cover guys in the AFL, has championship pedigree and is one of the smartest players I have ever coached. Virgil will approach the game with a new mindset having spent last season as a coach. I fully expect him to be the quarterback of our defense.”

Gray won three ArenaBowl championships as a player (2012, 2013, 2015) and was named First Team All-Arena for his performance with the Arizona Rattlers in 2013.

The Baltimore Brigade announced Thursday the signing of 2017 First Team All-Arena wide receiver Kendrick Ings, who spent the first three years of his Arena Football League career with the Tampa Bay Storm, amassing over 5,000 all-purpose yards and 49 total touchdowns.

In 2017, Ings ranked second in the AFL in receptions (98), third in receiving yards (1,141) and fourth in receiving touchdowns per game (4.6). Ings reunites with quarterback Randy Hippeard, who won AFL MVP for his performance under center with the Storm last season and signed with the Brigade earlier this week.

“Kendrick Ings is a dynamic playmaker that will help take our offense and special teams to the next level,” Brigade Head Coach Omarr Smith said. “He and Randy Hippeard have a history of success and an already-established chemistry that will set the tone for our offense from the moment they step in the building on the first day of training camp. We expect that chemistry to translate to wins and an incredibly exciting product for our fans.”

In addition to his efforts at wideout, Ings is one of the most prolific kick returners in the league. Last season, he led the AFL in kickoff return yards (1,063), average yards per return (21.7) and kickoff return touchdowns (4).
