There’s still more basketball to be played for Jay Greene and Darryl Proctor after all.
UMBC pulled off a second straight win in the America East tournament today, knocking off host-school Albany, 64-58, to reach the Championship game for the second straight year. The Retrievers will play at Binghamton on Saturday at 11am with the winner earning a trip to the NCAA Tournament. UMBC beat Hartford in last year’s America East title game to earn a trip to March Madness, where they lost to Georgetown in the first round.
In the ’08-09 regular season, UMBC and Binghamton met twice with each team winning at home.
After scoring only two points in yesterday’s quarterfinal win over Boston University, Jay Greene rebounded with a 29-point effort in today’s triumph over Albany.
