At the NBA Draft last night the Wizards had the 3rd overall pick. They selected freshman guard Bradley Beal from the University of Florida.
Beal is a 6’5″ guard, originally from St. Louis, Missouri. In his one and only season as a Gator, he averaged 14.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. His 14.8 points per game were second on the team in scoring. He helped the gators to a NCAA Tournament berth and once in the NCAA tournament, they reached the Elite Eight before being knocked out by Louisville. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011–12_Florida_Gators_men%27s_basketball_team http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradley_Beal
Beal, when paired with John Wall, should provide the Wiz with a formidable backcourt. Add in recently acquired center Emeka Okafor and forward Trevor Ariza, with Nene, who was acquired at the trade deadline last season, the starting five looks pretty solid for the Wizards.
Hopefully these recent additions will help the Wizards climb the ladder in the Southeast Division and hopefully a playoff berth is in the offing in the not too distant future in our nation’s capital.
