Gary Carter Dies – Gary Carter died earlier this week due to brain cancer. He played in 21 seasons for the Montreal Expos, New York Mets, San Francisco Giants, and Los Angeles Dodgers. He was an 11 time all star and was inducted into the hall of fame in 2003.

Tim Wakefield Retires – Tim Wakefield retired after 19 seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Boston Red Sox. Wakefield is known for his nasty knuckleball. His career stats are 200-180 with a 4.41 era and 2,156 strikeouts. He was a 1 time all star and has 2 world series rings. Do you think he will get into the Hall of Fame?

A.J. Burnett Traded – Burnett was traded to the Pirates for 2 minor league players. Burnett was not successful for the Yankees the last 2 seasons.

J.R. Smith Signs – J.R. Smith signed with the New York Knicks after his season in the Chinese League ended. Smith signed a contract for a team in China because of the lockout but did not put an opt out clause in the contract. Smith will give the Knicks another offensive weapon. Knicks could run the table with there starting lineup. PG Jeremy Lin, SG J.R. Smith, SF Carmelo Anthony, PF Amare Stoudemire, C Tyson Chandler. That is a pretty scary lineup if you ask me.
