Joe Paterno Dies – Joe Paterno dies earlier this week at age 85. He was one of the best coaches of all time. Joe finished his career on a sad note though. Penn State fired him right before the season ended because of a sex scandal on Jerry Sandusky. In my eyes, Penn State is the reason for his death. You can’t tell me it was just a coincidence that once he was fired he got sick. When he found out about the scandal, he went right to the higher ups and they didn’t do anything about it. Joe Paterno didn’t deserve to be fired. They should have at least let him finish out the season and then asked him to step down. Although he left Penn State in a bad way, he finished with 409 wins in 46 years with Penn State. He coached five undefeated teams that won major bowl games and in 2007, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach.

Jorge Posada Retires – Jorge Posada retired this week after 17 seasons with the New York Yankees. Posada produced strong offensive numbers as a catcher, recording a .273 batting average, 275 home runs, and 1,065 RBI’s during his career. Posada was a five-time All Star, won five Silver Slugger Awards, and went to 4 World Series. Posada was only the fifth MLB catcher with 1,500 hits, 350 doubles, 275 home runs, and 1,000 RBIs in a career. Posada will be inducted in the Hall of Fame as one of the best catchers of all time.

Prince Fielder Signs with Tigers – Prince Fielder signed with the Tigers this week. At first, their was a report that he signed with the Nationals, but then another report came out that he officially signed a 9 year, $214 million contract with the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers are now serious world series contenders.

Roy Oswalt Signs with Cardinals – Roy Oswalt has reportedly signed with the St. Louis Cardinals. He spent his first 9 1/2 years with the Houston Astros and spent the last 1 1/2 years with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Chuck Pagano New Head Coach of Colts – Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator is the new Head Coach of the Indianapolis Colts. Pagano will bring aggressiveness to the Colts to help out Andrew Luck when they draft him.
