Temple was leading Navy 27-7 with 9:16 left in the 4th quarter when all of the sudden Navy woke up. Sophmore quarterback Ricky Dobbs who came on for an injured Kaipo Noa Kaheaku-Enhada led Navy on two touuchdown drives to cut it to 27-20 after an extra point was blocked. Temple completed a controversial pass with 1:44 left to give them a first down. All they had to do was take 3 knees since Navy only had one time out left. Instead they chose to run the ball. Navy stripped the Temple ball carrier and Clint Sovie scooped the ball up and returned it for a touchdown with 32 seconds left. In overtime Temple had 4th and 1 from the one yard line and chose to throw a pass to the back of the end zone which was incomplete. Navy took over and got their own first and goal on the 9 yard line. This lead to a 3rd and goal on the one yard line. Unlike Temple, Navy wouldn’t be denied and Ricky Dobbs scored the winning touchdown as Navy won 33-27. With the win Navy qualifies for the Eagle Bank Bowl on Dec 20th at RFK Stadium in DC. They will most likely play an ACC team. Before that though the Mids play Notre Dame on Nov 15th at M&T Bank Stadium.
