8. NBA: Washington Wizards Media Day (Monday 12pm from Verizon Center live on

Holy hell, the NBA is (almost) back? Really? Do they know it’s September/October? I mean, no one is going to bother looking for awhile, why not do the hockey thing and just show up eventually?

I assume the gang down at ABC 7 in DC is excited to see NBA stars like Dwyane Wade coming back to the District soon…

Oh…oh that’s what you think then? Okay.

7. Mixed Martial Arts: UFC on FUEL TV-Stefan Struve vs. Stipe Miocic (Saturday 4pm from Nottingham, ENG live on FUEL TV)

I’ve got nothing on this event, truthfully. Congrats to Jon Jones for retaining the title at 152. Let’s all enjoy a photo of UFC ring girls Arianny Celeste and Brittany Palmer and just move on already…

6. Boxing: Hasim Rahman vs. Alexander Povetkin (Saturday 4:30pm from Hamburg, GER live on EPIX)

In the 11 plus years since it happened, it’s still more and more impossible to believe it ever happened…

Somehow Charm City’s own claimed the Heavyweight Championship of the World, and at a time when the Heavyweight title still actually sorta kinda mattered.

He’s still getting paychecks to fight, so good for him.

5. Soccer: FIFA Soccer 13 available for PlayStation3/XBox360/Wii (Tuesday); MLS-DC United @ Portland Timbers (Saturday 10:30pm from Portland live on Comcast SportsNet)

You’re gonna get the game Tuesday and you’re gonna try all week, but you’re not gonna be able to do what Juninho did for LA Galaxy…

Freaking beautiful stuff, man.
