We’ve all read with great sadness the story of Yeardley Love and her tragic death at the University of Virginia earlier this month.
There is, of course, a local connection because Love was a Baltimore girl who attended Notre Dame Prep before heading off to Charlottesville.
And now, her family – and friends at NDP – is trying to raise $1 million to install a new turf field at the school. Here’s an article about their efforts from Wednesday’s edition of The Sun.
I’m going to take the month of June to put together a few events and some on-air promotional endeavors tied into the World Cup and the U.S. Open golf tournament that can help raise some money towards the turf-field fund-raiser at NDP.
My goal is to organize an effort to raise $5,000 for the Yeardley Love turf field at NDP.
I know times are tough…but nothing in our lives, financial or otherwise, is as unsettling or tragic as what the Love family is dealing with right now.
I’m going to ask all of you to earmark at least $20.00 for our efforts and participate in one of the June promotional fund-raisers that we’ll be holding on The Morning Reaction at WNST. If it turns out you can donate more, that’s great. If it’s $20.00 – or $10.00, or $5.00 – we’ll put it in the fund and do our best to present NDP with a check for $5,000 on behalf of the show sometime in early July.
Stay tuned to this blog and the show from 6am-10am throughout the month of June for our various fund-raising programs on behalf of the Yeardley Love turf field at NDP.
