Men’s Lacrosse: Blue Jays, Terps, Retrievers, and Midshipmen reach May Madness

The 2009 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament field has been announced and we now know the sixteen programs left to compete for the national title.

Four local schools, Johns Hopkins, Maryland, UMBC, and Navy, all made the cut and Hopkins will host their first-round game against Brown at Homewood Field in north Baltimore.

Here the the first round match-ups:

#1 Virginia v. Villanova
#8 Johns Hopkins v. Brown

#4 Princeton v. Massachusetts
#5 Cornell v. Hofstra

#3 Duke v. Navy
#6 North Carolina v. UMBC

#7 Notre Dame v. Maryland
#2. Syracuse v. Siena

The top-8 seeded teams will play host to their opponents next Saturday or Sunday and all games will be televised on ESPNU.

The tournament comes to a conclusion Memorial Day weekend at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA with the National Semi-finals on Saturday, May 23 and the championship game Monday, May 25.
