A Coach’s Diary: UpRoar 2012

September 01, 2012 | Damon Yaffe

July 31:

Packing up my TU gear. Tomorrow, I’ll unpack some stuff and settle into “my space” for the season. I’m looking forward to seeing the new locker room – now that it’s totally ready to go. I’ve seen it 2x during the build out process and it’s awesome – NFL quality.

I’m sitting here – anxious – it’ll be my 19th season of coaching football and I still feel the anxiety, restlessness and nervous energy which creeps in at the start of each 2-x-day camp.

Last season was an intense learning experience for me, on a football level and a spiritual level. For as much success as the program had, all the tremendous, explosive moments – the snapshots I see most clearly, when I close my eyes, are the final seconds ticking away in the loss at Maryland, the Delaware players celebrating on our field, and the numbness and drain I felt after the home playoff loss to Lehigh. It hurt. A lot.

I’m excited. I’ll be ready.

Why don’t you get lap band surgery like Rex Ryan. Maybe if you drop 100 lbs. you will feel a lot better.
