Week 13 College Football Preview

November 28, 2009 |

It has already been a good weekend of College Football. Texas and Alabama were made to sweat by their big rivals, and Pitt and WVU went down to the final second in the backyard brawl. There are still a few good Saturday games and Hopkins continues their postseason run.

                          TOP 5 Saturday Games

5.   Tennesse  (6-5)    at   Kentucky   (7-4)     7:00   ESPNU

When one team has won 25 straight games in a series, it is tough to call it a game of the week. But this year the 25 time loser is probably the better team. We’ll see.

          Pick:   Tennessee 24-21

4.   Oklahoma St.   (9-2)     at    Oklahoma   (6-5)    12:30

After a few years of being beaten up, this is the Cowboys chance to try to exact some revenge. I’m not sure the Oklahoma seniors will give up very easily.

     Pick:   Oklahoma  35-31

3.   Miami FL   (8-3)     at   South Florida    (7-3)     3:30

The Bulls already hold a win over Florida State and would like to sweep their instate ACC schools. It will all depend on the play of BJ Daniels. If he limits turnovers, it could be an historic day for USF.

    Pick:   South Florida    22-19

2.       Utah  (9-2)    at      BYU   (9-2)       5:00

It is always the game of the year out in the land of the Mormons. This year it is still a big contest, but it will only determine the second best team in the MWC. It is Max Hall’s final chance to live up to expectations at BYU. I think he will.

     Pick:     BYU   38-28

1.    Arkansas  (7-4)    at   LSU    (8-3)     7:00   ESPN

Arkansas has found a way to win a few of these games lately, even when they were decided underdogs. That isn’t really the case this year. The teams are going in different directions at the end of the season and Razorback QB Ryan Mallett is one of the most exciting QB’s in the country.

    PICK:    Arkansas  28-24

                                    Local Games

Boston College  (7-4)   at  Maryland   (2-9)    3:30    ESPNU

   Pick:    BC   33-17

    Navy    (8-3)    at    Hawaii  (5-6)      10:30   ESPNU

   Pick:      Navy  38-30

Johns Hopkins   (9-2)    at    Thomas More   (11-0)    12:00

    Pick:   Hopkins   27-21

Maryland’s season will mercifully end today. Navy needs to not be looking ahead to Army next week. And Hopkins can get into the D3 Quarterfinals with another road victory.
