Today is Memorial Day. The day to set aside for all Americans to remember those men and women who bravely served and gave their lives defending our country. Too often we treat a national holiday as simply a day off from work, and an excuse to gather with family and friends for a cookout. Memorial Day Weekend is typically the unofficial start of summer. We selfishly bask in the luxury of a summer home or place by the lake or mountains.
On this Memorial Day. Take a moment to reflect on how your life may be different, if throughout the past 237 years of this great country, we did not have men and women willing to give their life for their country.
God Bless America… and the men and women who died defending her.
Frankie Lovato’s JockeyWorld.org racing term of the day is #147… “Hand Ride”
Recapping Pimlico’s Sunday 9-race card selections, posted just 4 winners (2 Top Selections in BOLD type) having $2 WIN pay-offs of $2.60 (2nd race), $11.80 (4th), $30.80 (6th) and $3.20 (8th).
The BEST BET (29 10-4-3) Lucky Trader (R1 #2 8-5 PT; 5-2 M/L) took no early action but with just a few minutes until post time took all the late money, going off as the 8-5 favorite but didn’t run a lick, finishing dead last. When does this meet end again? I think I need a vacation from the ponies.
The LONGSHOT PICK (29 5-1-2) Shimmering Forest (R3 #7 8-1 PT; 10-1 M/L) was hell-bend on contesting the lead for reasons that escape me. Hence, it was his ultimate undoing as he led the field into the stretch, but quickly was swallowed up and faded in the final furlong.
