Timonium Sunday Race Selections at Maryland State Fair

September 01, 2012 | Gary Quill

A great Labor Day weekend so far. The weather has been ideal for strolling through the State Fair Midway, making the annual visit to say “Hi” to the World’s Smallest Woman and pickin’ ponies.

Recapping Day 5 (Saturday, September 1st) selections at the State Fair Meet had 7 winners (5 Top Selections; payoffs in BOLD) having $2 WIN pay-offs being $2.60 (1st race), $7.80 (2nd), $3.20 (3rd), $2.80 (4th), $4.00 (5th), $4.00 (6th), and $3.40 (8th).

The Best Bet won “from Go to Whoa” in dominating fashion to return $4.00 to WIN, $2.80 to PLACE and $2.10 to SHOW.

The Longshot Pick was sent off at 6-1, chased the eventual winner early but got weary legs late, finishing 3rd returning $2.80 to SHOW.

The SHOW Parlay Play of the Day got beat for the win by the longest price of the day (10-1), which helped sweeten the SHOW payoff for our selection (#1 – Tiecat) who paid $4.00 to SHOW. That 100% ROI increased the SHOW Parlay bankroll from $31.50 to $62.50.

SHOW Parlay Play of the Day: $62 on #5 My Misty’s Echo (10th race; 3-1) is a 9 year old mare making her 43rd career start. With the rain in the weather forecast by mid-afternoon, the track surface should be sloppy by the 10th race. This old gal steps up her game on an off track as she’s been in-the-money 8 of 11 starts. Add the fact she has early speed which has been holding quite well over the past two racing days, this selection is a no brainer.

Looks like the sun will shine on Day 6 of living racing at the State Fair, so enjoy the exciting chase scenes thoroughbred horse racing has to offer. Good Luck!
