BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland women’s lacrosse team earned an at large bid to the 2013 NCAA Championships and will face High Point in a first round game at No. 3 seed North Carolina on Friday, May 10. Game time will be determined later.
Loyola (10-8, 6-2 BIG EAST) will be participating in the national tournament for the third-straight year and for the 15th time in program history. The Greyhounds hold an overall record of 13-15 in the championships.
High Point (10-8) earned an automatic bid to the tournament after winning the Big South Championship. The Panthers’ assistant coach Ana Heneberry was a former Greyhound All-American, helping Loyola to back-to-back BIG EAST titles and NCAA quarterfinal appearances in 2011 and 2012.
This will be the first time that Loyola and High Point have met in women’s lacrosse.
The winner of Friday’s game will advance to the next round to face No. 3 North Carolina on Sunday, May 12. The semifinals and finals of this year’s tournament are scheduled for Friday, May 24 and Sunday, May 26 at Villanova.
