Maryland new #1; Loyola, Hopkins join them in Top 5 of new lacrosse rankings

The area’s top college lacrosse teams had another great weekend. The University of Maryland handled previously #1 ranked Duke with relative ease Saturday, winning 10-6 at Byrd Stadium. Johns Hopkins went on the road and handed Princeton their first loss, a 15-9 final. And Loyola continued their red hot play by going on the road and topping Lehigh 14-7.

As a result, all three teams moved up in the new weekly lacrosse rankings announced Monday. The Terps are the new Number 1 team in the country according to both polls, both other teams have joined them in the top five in both polls.
