TOWSON, Md. – Looking for its third win in a row, Tiger men’s lacrosse (3-2) heads to Marist (2-2) on Friday, March 7 at 7 p.m. in Tenney Stadium.
Updating the Tigers
Towson won back-to-back games for the first time this season and allowed the fewest goals in the Tigers’ Division I history when they defeated Mount St. Mary’s 9-1 on March 1. Freshman Joe Seider and senior Max Siskind each scored two goals for Towson.
Scouting the Red Foxes
Marist stopped a two-game skid with a 16-12 win over Marquette on March 1. The Red Foxes had lost both games (Denver, Air Force) at the Frontier Airlines Face-Off Classic. Marist has three double-digit goal scorers in Joseph Radin (13), Colin Joka (11) and Drew Nesmith (10). The Red Foxes are being outscored 56-41 but have converted four-of-seven EMO chances. They have split the face-off percentage with opponents 50/50 and are nearly even on caused turnovers (leading 21-20).
Towson-Marist Series History
Last season Marist claimed a last-second overtime victory when Jack Doherty scored the game-winner in the only meeting between the teams.
Last Time Out vs. Marist – March 8, 2013 (Towson 9, Marist 10, ot)
Despite a then-career-high five goals from Thomas DeNapoli, Towson men’s lacrosse fell, 10-9 in overtime, to Marist when the Red Foxes’ Jack Doherty scored with one second left in overtime at Unitas Stadium. It was DeNapoli’s fourth straight hat trick. Doherty led Marist with four goals, while Drew Nesmith added three. The Tigers stayed just ahead of the Red Foxes until Nesmith scored on an EMO chance to kick off a Marist scoring rally. The Red Foxes scored five of the last seven goals for the win.
