CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland sophomore forward Franz Rassman (Washington, D.C./Gonzaga College H.S.) was one of five players named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team on Tuesday, an honor reserved for the players in the conference who best combine on the court accomplishments and classroom achievement.
Rassman started 29-of-30 games for the Greyhounds who finished their season last night in the Patriot League Championships First Round, and he played some of his best basketball at the end of the regular-season.
Last Wednesday against College of the Holy Cross, Rassman scored a career-high 15 points, making 6-of-7 shots from the field. It not take long for him to equal that output as he scored 15 again on Saturday, hitting 7-of-9 field goals, in a win at the U.S. Naval Academy.
Rassman also grabbed seven rebounds against the Midshipmen, a number he equaled last night against Lafayette College.
He finished the year averaging 5.9 points and 4.3 rebounds in 20.9 minutes per game.
In the classroom, the business major has a grade-point average of better than 3.9, and last month he was named to the Capital One Academic All-America District II Team.
American University’s Jesse Reed, Bucknell University’s Brian Fitzpatrick, and Lafayette’s Seth Hinrichs and Joey Ptasinski joined Rassman on the Academic All-Patriot League team. Reed was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
